Pioneering Green Offices in HCMC You Must See

Globally, countries and businesses are committing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and Viet Nam has started integrating sustainability into its socioeconomic development plans. From January 2023, listed companies must start delivering annual ESG reports. However, despite the rising demand for offices, green office buildings remain limited. By the end of 2022, there were only 233 green office buildings in Viet Nam, which is modest compared to the number of projects that have entered in the past decade.

Green Building Certificates in Viet Nam

  • LEED: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is a comprehensive green building certification system developed in the US. LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings.
  • LOTUS is a comprehensive green building criteria system developed by the Viet Nam Green Building Council (VGBC). It meets international development standards while taking into account Viet Nam’s conditions, climate, and building regulations. Viet Nam Green Building Social Enterprise Co., Ltd. - a representative of VGBC - was established to evaluate LOTUS projects and related training programmes.

  • GREEN MARK is a system of green building certification issued by the Singapore Ministry of Construction. It looks at energy, water, materials, and indoor environmental quality, which delivers different levels of sustainability, including Gold, Gold Plus, Platinum.
  • WELL is a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and wellbeing, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind. The WELL Building Standard is managed and administered by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).
